The Capital Group’s construction project unfolds with a vision to foster communication and collaboration through the installation of interior staircases, symbolizing their commitment to transparency. Challenges arose along the way, including the unexpected discovery of a concrete vault on the 33rd floor. Despite this hurdle, the project remained on track, thanks to the team’s resilience and meticulous planning. Another obstacle presented itself in obtaining approval for custom materials from the city of Los Angeles, requiring collaboration with officials and inspectors.
Amidst these challenges, the partnership between Gensler’s teams in New York and Los Angeles shined as a beacon of seamless cross-country teamwork. Cutting a stairwell within an existing building showcased the team’s skill and collaborative spirit, overcoming logistical complexities with precision. The project’s success was further underscored by the use of unique materials sourced from across the globe, including European limestone for the staircases and custom light fixtures spanning from the 34th to 31st floors. Each material, meticulously selected and installed with the city’s approval, contributed to the project’s standout feature—the interior staircases that now serve as a symbol of connectivity and innovation.
As the construction project drew to a close, it left behind a legacy of seamless collaboration, precision, and innovation. The interior staircases, once a mere vision, now stand as a testament to Capital Group’s commitment to fostering transparency and communication within their workspace. From the initial challenges to the final installation of custom materials, the journey of this project embodies the resilience and dedication of all those involved, culminating in a space that inspires and facilitates collaboration for years to come.
