The revitalization project at 801 N. Brand in Glendale focused on transforming underutilized open spaces into vibrant, inviting environments. Working closely with designers and engineers, the project integrated indoor and outdoor spaces to enhance community engagement and tenant experiences. Highlights include the park-like plaza with amenities like an Airstream café, shade structures, and artificial turf, which hosts events like a weekly farmers’ market. Obstacles included waterproofing concerns and logistical issues, such as craning in the Airstream due to finishing constraints. Custom materials such as porcelain-clad planters by Tournesol, custom awnings, and a unique 40ft chandelier in the lobby underscored the project’s commitment to aesthetics and functionality, creating a dynamic hub for social interaction and community connection.
