The vision for Boston Consulting Group’s new space atop one of Los Angeles’ tallest office towers was to capture the essence of their work and culture, a 360 degree perspective filled with unlimited possibilities. BCG sought a headquarters that embodied their mission of expanding “the art of the possible.”
Collaborating closely with BCG’s leadership, we created an unconventional workspace for their dynamic team. Given the nomadic nature of BCG consultants who often engage directly with clients, our design focused on flexibility. The penthouse headquarters, spanning the 51st and 52nd floors of City National Plaza in downtown LA, accommodates this mobile workforce with a “hoteling” model, providing 210 workstations that can be configured based on needs.
The layout emphasizes open vistas, with private offices and meeting rooms being clustered towards the interior, preserving the perimeter for panoramic city views that symbolize BCG’s spirit of limitless potential.
Technical highlights include the transformation of what was once the mechanical penthouse into a state of the art corporate environment, and a 58 foot tall, 3 story stairway. The visual highlights include a 60 foot tall atrium with a hanging garden highlighted by a skylight above. The most unique feature that is nearly non existent in a high rise building is the outdoor terrace.
