The Ellison Institute, a cutting edge research and treatment facility leading the way in pursuit of a cure for cancer, encountered an ironic obstacle due to the impact of COVID-19 restrictions early on that resulted in labor shortages and schedule disruptions. The team worked in unison to develop a safe working plan to keep the project on track.
One significant challenge was that the open plan presented safety concerns, particularly smoke separation which resulted in installation of a fire curtain between floors 3 and 4.
Highlights of the project include the creation of four major medical laboratories, a clinic and pharmacy that services patients daily, a demonstration kitchen for teaching patients healthy cooking techniques, and a beautiful outdoor patio and bar. Additionally, the project prioritized sustainability and efficiency.
