Team One undertook an ambitious project in Playa Vista, transforming a large former US Post Office into a vibrant 75,000-square-foot office space that reflects their commitment to creativity and collaboration. The design features a striking reception area dominated by a massive folding “box” covered in reclaimed barn wood, setting a rustic yet elegant tone against the industrial backdrop. Challenges we experienced such as the soaring 26-foot ceilings and the intricate “box in a box” design required meticulous work from scissor lifts, underscoring the project’s scale and complexity. Integrated meeting rooms and huddle spaces designed for dynamic interactions are complemented by a warm material palette of handmade cement tiles, felt panels, and living green walls. Custom barn doors, concrete accents, and a prominent wall of reclaimed barn wood further enrich the space, reflecting Team One’s dedication to innovative design and sustainable practices.
