Temple Israel of Hollywood (TIOH), a community landmark since the 1920s, underwent a phased renovation focused on enhancing functionality and preserving historical integrity. The project included expanding the Chapel and offices, upgrading HVAC systems, and converting the basement boiler room into a classroom, all carefully timed around the High Holidays and school schedules. Extensive structural work included grade beam replacements, new foundations, reinforced shear walls, and a sedimentary concrete wall with Jerusalem stone for the Arc. The Chapel’s design also features a geometric wood-slat ceiling, custom lighting, and a movable glass partition, blending TIOH’s heritage with modernized facilities for future generations.
